Vehicle Companion App

Aptera / Mobile App

Designing a mobile app to control and report the status of an electric vehicle

Overview

Aptera is an electric vehicle startup based in Southern California. They're building a three-wheeled electric vehicle that can charge up to 40 miles per day sitting in the sun, via roof-mounted solar panels. They believe a mobile app will help deliver an innovative user experience.

In this project, Aptera asked me to figure out how a mobile app might fit into the vehicle ownership and use experience and what steps would be required to bring the app to life. I produced four main deliverables. First, I managed two interns through researching and designing a high-fidelity clickable prototype of the app, setting the vision for what it could be. Second, I delivered a presentation detailing what part of the ownership experience the app should cover and what key features it should have at launch. Third, I produced a roadmap and timeline to build the app. Fourth, I designed initial flows and interactions for the app's key launch features.
